Disgruntlement File: McDonald’s seems to have discontinued the Triple Stack McMuffins. They had disappeared from the McD’s cash register this morning. Also the classical music has disappeared. Bummer. Triple Stack McBummer.
Fixing the turn signals on my 2010 Ford Transit Connect is going to cost US $1200.00 because Ford does not make sub-parts for the entire headlight turn signal assembly must be replaced. Good enginnering Ford.
My 2010 Ford Transit Connect had to be towed into the dealer this morning. Low miles on it, but I can see time is taking it’s toll. With the hood up I noticed a lot of vaccum hoses are cracking on it and will need to be replaced the next time it goes into the shop.

At current count, it’s going to take 20 minutes just to read the list of Democrats running for President on the 2020 primary ballot.
Darling lets you run macOS apps on a Linux computer. (Just like Wine lets you run Windows apps on Linux.)
I signed up for the [Librem One] privacy apps suite. Mainly I wanted a VPN, the Social and Chat apps don’t really interest me. My remarks are about the iOS apps.
What I’d like to see is a cloud file storage app, contacts, etc.
My rule for setting up new phones: keep apps to an absolute minimum of what I actually use. And substiute browser based web apps wherever possible (ie Twitter, Youtube etc.)

IPhone face recognition does not like me wearing a hat. This is going to be a problem.
Gmail’s automated spam-filtering is making it much harder to run an independent mail-server Boing Boing
In case you missed it: there is a new/forthcoming suite of apps linked to cloud services that increase privacy and help you de-Google your Android or iOS devices. ramblinggit.com/2019/04/3…
Delta Chat is a Whatsapp or Telegram type messenger that is based on email so it works across all platforms. If you want to avoid the messenger silos this may be the way to go. Open source. I’m going to test this.
Todays Mail:
Mail a Letter Online you send them an email, they print it, stuff it in an addressed envelope, affix postage and mail starting at $1.52. I can see this for sending to: parents and grandparents, and kids who don’t have email, to people who rarely check their email (you know who I’m talking about) and for instances where you need the impact of a real snail mail letter. I can see this being used by people who travel a lot and are never in an office.

I think I’m one of a small minority of people that have never watched Game of Thrones. I’m sure I’ll binge watch it, several years from now after it’s all completed.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a Marvel The Avengers movie or not. I did see the first Wolverine movie many years ago. Is that part of the franchise? I get my superhero lore confused. I guess I’m not part of the hip crowd.
Dawn. I’m sitting on the front porch, just out of the rain, listening to the bird sing and watching the neighborhood feral cats head back to their nests after a night of prowling around. Bunny rabbits are making themeselves scarce due to rain and cats.
War Plan Red: The U.S. Contingency for War With Canada & The UK This seems quiant today, with NATO but is made more sense back in the 1920’s.
Today, I’m sure we have contingency plans on how to defend Alaska and the Aleutian Islands in case of war with Russia or China. Preparing these plans is how you keep your military staff at the Pentagon busy during times of peace.
