Books: My most recent series read, “The Rivers of London” series by Ben Aaronovitch. Urban Fantasy. 8 books so far. I enjoyed these. Nice world building, characters and humor from the narrator. Somehow the climax of each book is understated. How British.

I’m out of books to read. It’s rough I can read faster than authors can write. I have a few ebooks left in strategic reserve but they are Amazon published only and my elderly Kindle battery died. I suppose it’s time for a new Kindle. sigh

I have yet to see (or hear) a cicada. But I saw a stink bug if that helps.

TV in doctor’s waiting rooms seems to all be made-for-healthcare channels now. Wherein they make healthy meals from tree bark, acorns, silage, compost and grains nobody has ever heard of, served in impossably small hipster portions by someone in skinny jeans.

Welp, I’ve read every one of Jim Butcher’s, Dresden Files novels and short stories to date. I love the world, characters and adventure. I guess I have to wait for the next novel, #18. Waiting builds character, I’m told. I. Hate. Waiting.

Q: Do I even want to know what the hell an NFT is?

A: No.

Got notice that my ver. of Windows 10 had come to end of life. Upgrade needed. Upgraded. Smooth. Post upgrade Win. showed me a page with all sorts of privacy options and all were off (more privacy) by default. Interesting, MS is contrasting itself vs. Google on privacy.

If you have a self-hosted Wordpress site there are simple plugins available to block Google’s FLoC. By installing you help protect your visitors from Google’s schemes.

Finally. I got my car plate renewals in today’s mail. My plates expire in 2 days. I sent my check in on April 1st. Yes, I was beginning to worry. Yes I still renew by mail. #nocountryforoldmen #wavescane

When I test a search engine my first test keyword I search with is “webrings” to see the results. The topic webrings, has become obscure enough today. There should be a mixture of old legacy pages combined with some new pages since the topic is not dead yet.

All you people whinging about Covid vaccination passports: where were you when the government imposed Real ID on Americans? Real ID is a real internal travel passport. It might seem harmless now but it’s a tool to restrict travel and access in the future.

Interesting. I’m now following fictional characters from the urban fantasy series: “The Dreden Files” by Jim Butcher on Twitter. I’ve stepped into a reality distortion field. Even so, I’m still more grounded in reality than most big shot Republicans.

I took my mother in for her second vaccine jab yesterday. Fortunately, the hospital had wheelchairs because there was a lot of walking. Fortunately the wheelchair put us in the handicapped line. No waiting, wheel in, get shot, wait a bit and done. Other lines were long.

I don’t like Spring that much anymore. Real estate taxes, income taxes, vehicle registrations, vehicle insurance, homeowners insurance other property insurance all come due in the Spring on top of all the regular monthly bills.

Once upon a time, back when toaster waffles were invented, some company came out with toaster corn bread sold frozen just like waffles. Bring that back.

I just had my second covid vaccination shot. Feels good to get that behind me. I’d love to have a Scotch to celebrate but I’ll wait until this jab takes full effect.

A red letter day. I managed to hire someone to do landscaping around my house. This means I don’t have to do it. happydance Now I just have to figure out what I want him to do.

I ran across this: nomoregoogle.com

It’s crowd sources so I added Micro.blog and Mojeek.com to the appropriate categories because I was feeling crowdy. :-)

“Battle Ground” by Jim Butcher, #17 in the Dresden Files, has a fan made video trailer. The production values are amazingly high. I understand the dedication, the books are fantastic reads.

I did an OTA system update of my /e/ OS phone for the first time. I had my fingers crossed because my experience with other OS’s has been that updates can be times when Things Go Wrong. However, the update all went very well, very smooth. Very happy.

I just activated the Search plugin on my Micro.blog blog. Was easy, and works like a treat and I didn’t break the Internet as I am prone to do. Site search on a blog is a required core function IMO. Thanks to @manton and crew for providing the site search function.

When I get an idea for a new blog, it always sparks off an internal debate: 1. should it just be a new category on my personal blog, 2 should I start a new blog and if so, where and using what platform? And this goes round and round in my head. My strategy is to out wait it and maybe it will go away.

One thing I like on Mastodon is “Tech News Bot” which gives a nice stream of breaking tech news in my Masto timelines.

Now that there are grownups in the White House and I’m no longer doom scrolling, my Twitter feed seems empty. I’m not complaining but I’ve added a couple of Mastodon instances back into my routine just to try and keep occupied. Heh.
