I just activated the Search plugin on my Micro.blog blog. Was easy, and works like a treat and I didn’t break the Internet as I am prone to do. Site search on a blog is a required core function IMO. Thanks to @manton and crew for providing the site search function.
When I get an idea for a new blog, it always sparks off an internal debate: 1. should it just be a new category on my personal blog, 2 should I start a new blog and if so, where and using what platform? And this goes round and round in my head. My strategy is to out wait it and maybe it will go away.
One thing I like on Mastodon is “Tech News Bot” which gives a nice stream of breaking tech news in my Masto timelines.
Now that there are grownups in the White House and I’m no longer doom scrolling, my Twitter feed seems empty. I’m not complaining but I’ve added a couple of Mastodon instances back into my routine just to try and keep occupied. Heh.
I caught Googlebot and Applebot on my directory both at the same time. Crossing the streams? I wonder if they nod to each other if the meet in the corridor?
I’m back to syndicating to Mastodon instances. I can’t remember why I stopped.

Siteground has done away with C-Panel. Their new in house “panel” has only 1/10th the website scripts C-Panel had. Worse they left scripts I’m using orphaned now with no automated version upgrades. Not happy. Also, I’m seeing reports my site is hosted on Google now. ?
I joined a Discord channel thing. I survived. I think it’s kinda like a cross between forums and the old instant messengers (YIM, AIM, etc) and Slack dancing at the edge of the Abyss. Nice people tho, but young so I only understand about half of what is said.
Bookmarked: Here is a good rundown of search engines that have their own index, including some new ones to me. seirdy.one/2021/03/1…
Must order groceries today. I wonder if they still have unfrosted cinnamon Pop-Tarts? These were the apex of Pop-Tartdom.
Supper: non-GMO, free range, spicy black bean burgers and organic steamed sweet potato chunks.
Shoot me now.
Early in the pandemic, that initial lie by US Gov’t health professionals, that masks were useless against Covid, is still haunting us 12 mos later. Don’t care about motives. Don’t care who lied. The lesson is: Do. Not. Lie.
One of the best follows I ever did on Twitter is @Roman_Britain . Between Likes, RT’s and their own posts they keep a very steady stream of posts about Iron Age hill forts, Roman roads, forts, and archaeology. It’s quite a stream but endlessly fascinating.
Cheerios are anti-right angle.
If you are a Vivaldi browser user on Micro.blog you can use Vivaldi’s “Notes” feature as a Markdown editor. I’m on Windows and the main advantage of using Vivaldi Notes is spell checking vs the Micro.blog web interface. vivaldi.com/blog/mark…
I get my first Covid jab today. I guess this means I should put some trousers on.
It’s inevitable, your kids and your grand kids will go through a phase where they think they know everything and that everything you did was wrong and stupid. Just like you did.
Random: Archaeologists dig and date things by soil layers. Somewhere down there is a whole layer of aluminum drink can pop tabs (the old kind that you completely remove and we used to cut our feet on.) Pure evil. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drin…
Testing Gluon on eOS.
My US e foundation phone arrived. Activation and setup was fast and a breeze. Everything works. So far I’m impressed. More after I’ve used it for a week or two.
