I’m really not happy with any of the social media systems for community and discussion. Somehow I think commenting should be done directly on the blog post webpage or via Webmention and not on a timeline, which means no community. There is a lot of friction in those two methods plus you need a proper commenting system on the blog (third party stuff just does not work.)
I just joined Status.Cafe which is a sort of nano blog status thingy. It’s v. simple and I like it. It let’s me post little short things that I really don’t want showing up in the MB timeline nor cross posted. Good for my nonsense. It’s free and no long term commitments. :-)
I’m feeling fairly caffeinated so I guess I should make decaffeinated coffee instead of regular. -hangs head-
If you register for an online community or service and are supposed to get an email to complete said registration, how long does one wait for that confirmation email? I’m thinking 48 hrs since it appears to be a one man shop. That might be harsh but I’m not rechecking inbox forever.
I had been thinking about getting a separate profile page from some service to knit together my far flung Internet empire, and then I remembered I have Micro.blog Premium Plan which lets me make stand alone static web pages. It should be easy to to make myself a profile page. Muhahahah.
While I have lots of complaints about WordPress, but the WP commenting system is still the best.

I just ran across this: Multiverse which appears to be a micro blogging network (eg. Twitter, Mastodon, etc.) Members appear to be able to post more than just text, so you have greater freedom of expression. That seems to be what makes it different. I have not joined so there may be more.
