It’s been years ago, since I used Google News app and Apple News app. Both were good but I quit Apple and I won’t use Google apps because of spyware.
Instead of those two I use my phone’s web browser with Yahoo News bookmarked. Yahoo News is pretty darn good and no app to download. Recently I’ve also used AOL News which is pretty darn good and complete. There is a lot of overlap between Yahoo and AOL because both are Verizon companies, but the news sites are arranged and displayed differently so it comes down to personal preference. I recommend them both.
There is also MSN News web page, but I no longer recommend it. The page starts nagging you to download the MSN app and limits your access to content.
One lesson here is always try out the mobile web page first before downloading an app. Companies want you to download the app so they can spy on you for data-mining and advertising purposes.
Anyway if you are a news junkie and want to scan the news headlines for free try either Yahoo or AOL news on the web. They are kinda hidden gems.
