We’re honored to share that 2018 was DuckDuckGo’s best year yet 👏. From where we stand, it was a breakout year for online privacy, the likes of which we haven’t seen since the surveillance revelations of 2013.

In terms of growth, 2018 saw our average daily private searches leap 63%, from 19 million to 31 million.
A lot of people will compare this to Google’s traffic and say it’s a drop in the bucket.  While that may be true, the news here is that DDG is growing where other search platforms like: Excite, AltaVista, Yahoo. AOL. AlltheWeb, Magellan, Lycos have declined.  And DDG has grown in spite of the full bore established monopoly dominance of Google - or perhaps because of it.
