I just donated.  This has already been done in The Netherlands.  Raising money for a news service with original reporting, no ads, no corporate or government sponsors.  This is worth at least trying, because the current news system is broken. Badly.

 We always put journalism before financial gain

 We believe in transparency and continued self-improvement
