I’m surprised there isn’t a digital garden plugin for WordPress.
This is well worth the read: A Brief History & Ethos of the Digital Garden by Maggie Appleton.
I can confirm that the #Indieweb suite of plugins work on ClassicPress CMS. I thought they would, but it is good to know in the wild. Good to have another compatible, viable CMS platform for the Indieweb.
New website is 3 days old. It has no incoming links. Googlebot has visted. Somebody has already posted a spam comment.
ClassicPress.net has a plugin to convert a WprdPress install to ClassicPress. I’m not sure all the #Indieweb plugins will be compatible with ClassicPress. Is it worth the sacrifice? Anyone done this?
Started during the Pandemic Lockdown and rolling on from shear inertia: It’s Frozen Pizza Friday! So guess what’s for supper tonight.
I searched for WordPress plugins for “quotes” thinking about quote-of-the-day. All the top returns were plugins for job-cost quotes. Commerce. Back in ‘00’s all the plugins would have been famous quote of the day sort of things. Thank you Web 2.0 for nothing.
Tonight’s supper: 2 little veggie burgers, some sort of vegetable, probably green, maybe another vegetable, not green.
What do people do when they can’t connect to the internet? Talk to each other? Read books? Stare into the sun until they go blind? Listen to right wing radio?
Storm went through. Comcast internet out for next estimated 12 hours. On emergency bridge. Life support nominal.
Time to go buy a new domain.
I’ve been hunting for an online notes solution for a long time. @ChrisAldrich has me interested in digital #Zettelkasten solutions. The two easiest seem to be Hypothesis or dedicate a WordPress instance using tagging. I like the WP solution.
I just remembered that I bought some chocolate ice cream. Muhahahaha!
Supper is looking more and more like healthy, nutritious, free range, corn dogs tonight. Or a couple of frozen burritos with a can of chili dumped over them. Decisions. Decisions.
You have two choices in tablets with cellular: 1. Apple’s Iron Walled Garden tablet that costs billions, or 2. a bewildering array of Google’s Android Spyware Special tablet brands. U R free to choose just bend over first.
I’m organizing my tech news into a folder on QuiteRSS feed reader. So far: Bleeping Computer News, The Register, The Verge, TechDirt. Those feeds seem like a good starter pack.
I’m thinking of murder mysteries. It’s 2022, does anyone still have a butler?
I still want at least 8 major English language web search engines with their own indexes. At least there are contenders forming now. Seirdy has the best rundown.
I got a haircut today. As I watched large chunks of my hair hit the apron thing I noticed most of it has gone beyond gray and onto old man white. Oh well, at least I still have some hair to cut. :)
Huge mega cities get super hero’s like Super Man and Bat Man. But what kind of resident super hero’s do small cities like South Bend, Indiana or Sioux Falls, South Dakota get?
Today: Submitted a URL to two small directories for inclusion. Maybe. One had a reCaptcha that did not confirm transmission so maybe not.
Got garbage bin to curb. Paid stack of bills and mailed same.
it’s quiet. I think everybody is melting.
What a world. What a world.
I got my 2nd Covid booster this evening. (4th shot total). I’ve had 3 Pfizer shots so this time I went with Moderna to mix things up.
I keep running across people who are members of Status.cafe. Kinda nice. Part specialized micro blogging social network with a forum attached, which is a nice touch. Popularity growing.
