A few years ago Aldi had a frozen pizza very similar in size and weight to a regular Tombstone pizza only at a much better price than Tombstone. Then Aldi shrunk the pizza and it had nowhere near the same net weight it once had. It became more of a snack than a meal and I quit buying them. Shame.

Good morning. It’s foggy outside and the fog smells of sulfur from the steel mill.

We need more ways to consume mashed potatoes. Like mashed potato pizzas.

Got a text from Comcast that I can expect Internet interruptions today as they upgrade some do-hickey in my area. This is supposed to give me faster Internets in the future or Real Soon Now. I’m hoping they get all do-hickeys upgraded today so I only have a one day outage.

I was just looking at the paid plans at Wordpress .com. WP.com is not for the individual blogger anymore, it’s for eCommerce, pros and corporations now. Granny’s knitting blog days are numbered. You can’t install plugins until you pay at least $25 per mo.! Which means you can’t get rid of the block editor until you pay $25 per mo either. One of the best parts of WP is their plugin system but not at that kinda price.

Also they have the option to split “WordAd” revenue, so it sounds like WP has built their own advertising network.

At least, there is no mistaking Automattic’s intentions now, they don’t care about the little guy/gal, it’s all about money and managed hosting schemes. No wonder that smaller blog hosting companies like Micro.blog, Write.as and others are springing up all over. They are filling the vacuum WP.com is creating at the affordable end of the cost range.

My prediction is that things like WP Reader will be allowed to atrophy since SEO’s, enterprise and corporate suits have no interest in community or reading some schmuck’s cat or travel blog.

I’ve reached my limit on subscriptions. I don’t care what you are selling, if it involves a subscription it’s DOA.

For lunch I ate a Cosmic Crisp apple and it sure was good. Cosmic Crisp, Honey Crisp and Granny Smith are my favorite apples.

None of these were around when I was a kid so back then Jonathan apples were my favorite. But the fire blight got to them so I hardly ever see Jonathan’s in the stores anymore.

I’m pretty sure there is a US Department of Pine Cones.

Electric vehicles would look better with tail fins.

I just tried out Bluesky. Interesting. UI is very Twitter-like, so it seems familiar, only more controls. Could be a nice compliment to Mastodon.

From the archives: People, the Analog and Shaping our Society.

We’re in election year craziness and somehow this seems appropriate to bump.

My favorite part of watching (old) TV shows is when the hero just drives up and finds a parking spot right in front of their destination. Just pull up and park. Not like me circling around and finding one 4 blocks away.

Supper tonight will include a side salad. That’s the only thing I know for sure. I’m not even sure what salad dressing (I only have 3) I’ll put on it. Now I have to figure out the rest of the meal. This stuff never happens in the movies.

So Trump is selling Trump ugly sneakers now. If you see anybody actually wearing them in real life please take a picture of them and post it on a social network.

Just a reminder. in case you are boycotting Oreo cookies, that Hydrox cookies (made in USA) are available on Amazon. I liked them.

Maybe it’s my web browser. Maybe it’s XTwitter slowly breaking down. It seems I can no longer follow anyone there. Also, my notification count never seems to disappear - ever. And my notification count keeps rising but when I check them there is no new notification there. Kinda weird.

Not to be controversial or anything, but you know those molded plastic chairs that are supposed to go on our patios? I hate them.

I might be imagining this but I swear YouTube is slopping on more and more commercials and ads every week.

Maybe the anti-trust lawsuits have got Google so worried they are cashing in while they still can. Or Larry and Sergey want another 757.

Okay, hot dogs, mac and cheese and a salad for supper. Let it be written. Let it be law.

There, that’s settled.

I’m easily entertained.
