@Cheri @crossingthethreshold My old Kindle's battery is dying. I replaced it with an Amazon Fire 8" tablet and I have no complaints. In some ways I prefer a backlit screen. My other reader is a Kobo e-ink but it has a lit screen and I like it as well.

It's been years since I tried reading on a phone but I keep it loaded with ereader apps just in case I get stuck somewhere. I bet I could read a novel on a phone, because my first ereader was a Palm PDA which saved my sanity sitting in all those hospital and doctor's waiting rooms years ago.
